Introduction
Heat shock induces a set of proteins classified as DNAJ/K families which are distributed from Prokaryotic to Eukaryotic organisms. Several global reviews of the two families have been conducted with the limited scopes.
For systematic investigation of DNAJ/K families, we developed the Eukaryotic DNAJ/K Database (EDD; http://edd.snu.ac.kr/).
The automated pipeline identified 12,632 DNAJ and 4,886 DNAK genes from 339 eukaryotic genomes.
Kingdom-wide distributions and cluster analysis of two families present kingdom or phylum-specific features and evolutionary events of these families. With the aids of the Favorite and Species-driven User Interface (SUI), EDD will be fundamental platform for further comparative analyses of DNAJ/K families.
